Jan Seely
Chief Executive Officer
Jan is the Chief Executive Officer of the New Brunswick Special Care Home Association and has been in this role for many years. Additionally, she was an experienced owner/operator of an established Long-Term Care home for nearly 3 decades. Those years afforded many opportunities for growth and development as well as offering leadership in the Long-term Care Sector in a variety of ways.
Jan actively works with many partner organizations in the province to advance long-term care. She is diligent in her efforts to directly improve funding and standards for the sector. She served as the Chair of the Human Services Coalition of NB for three years and was vital in securing the initial investment in compensation rates for employees. Since 2016 these initial efforts have blossomed into a nearly 50% increase for thousands of community health and social services workers in the province.
Jan is a strong proponent for continuing education for staff and operators and has been project lead for a province wide training program that delivered essential education to hundreds. Her efforts are laser-focused on advancing the quality of care in 400 facilities that serve 7200 residents in all. Her natural team-building skills have served her well on her journey as “the voice of the sector” and is well respected by her peers and many government officials she works with.
Jan and her husband Gary (40 years) live on the Kingston Peninsula in New Brunswick and have three grown children and four grandchildren. She is an avid boater and an equestrian. Jan loves spending time with family and friends, especially cruising on the beautiful Saint John River or taking nice long horseback rides through the woods.
